About IoT Rapid-Proto Labs: the idea driving the project was to bring together students with different IoT expertise (design, cloud system development, and hardware/firmware development) to work together and prototype IoT projects of interest to SMEs. Our project provided an opportunity to explore this model, and the event provides an opportunity to show what worked (and what did not).
IoT Rapid-Proto Labs Final Event will also be a platform to spark discussion about the future of IoT and gain new connections for collaboration in IoT projects. This is an open event for all professionals and students interested in IoT.
Are you a company presentative broadening your IoT network? We offer to a limited amount of companies an opportunity to present (~3 minutes) their IoT related work and collaboration initiatives. We encourage you to focus on how IoT features in your business and the types of connections you are interested in making (e.g., Are you hiring? Are you interested in EU projects? What kind of collaboration are you interested in?)
IoT Rapid-Proto Labs is organized under the umbrella of the 2021 IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for Industry 4.0 and IoT. This virtual event hosts additional keynotes from industry and academia as well as cutting edge research presentations. If you are interested in participating in other events, a small registration fee is required.

Antti Merilehto is an author on AI, his book was the bestselling business book in Finland. Antti is an ex-Googler and currently CGO of Houston Analytics. His past includes Country Manager for a US tech company and CEO of an AI startup, most of his career has been in digital B2B.
Finnish event organizers awarded Antti the Speaker of the Year in 2018.
Amy L. Murphy is a senior researcher of the Energy Efficient Embedded Digital Architectures unit at the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento Italy. Her recent work revolves around novel wireless communication protocols supporting challenging IoT scenarios.
Elisabetta Farella is the lead researcher of the Energy Efficient Embedded Digital Architectures unit at the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento Italy. Her recent work focuses on bringing machine learning techniques to constrained embedded IoT devices, bringing sophisticated computing to the very edge.
Ohto Rainio is a Software Engineering and Programming teacher at Haaga-Helia University. He teaches mainly project-based courses related to mobile and web programming for last stage bachelor students.
Wilfried Admiraal is a full professor Educational Sciences at Leiden University, the Netherlands. His research interest is social-psychological aspects of technology-enhanced teaching in secondary and higher education.
Gerd Kortuem is Professor of Internet of Things and director of the Integrated Product Design Master Programme at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft. His research centres on the intersection of the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Design, and explores how data, algorithms, and smart materials can be turned into creative design materials. This covers foundational technologies, design methods, ethical issues and the dynamics of large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects where designers have to deal with tensions between commercial and societal concerns.
Davide Brunelli is an associate professor at the University of Trento, Italy. His research interests include IoT and distributed lightweight unmanned aerial vehicles, new techniques of energy scavenging for low-power embedded systems and energy-neutral wearable devices, UAVs and Machine Learning. He has published more than 200 papers in international journals or proceedings of international conferences. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
